How To Fail At Bike Riding

Biking is a pretty precarious sport all by itself, but bike racing certainly takes things to a whole new level.  These events seem custom built for testosterone.. and injury.

Here’s a biking tip to remember:  If it’s been at least 20 years since you’ve been on a bike and you’re just taking it up again as a leisure activity, avoid getting clip-on pedals… despite what the 19 year old bike salesman says about improving your stride. Stick with some good basket pedals as an alternative. Full speed bicycle wrecks are even less fun when you can’t get unclipped.

Here’s some of our favorite bike fails.

Oh man – what a collection of pictures. I ride regularly, but seeing these makes me hesitate to get back on the bike again :-)

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’ve heard this statistic that bike riders average one crash per 5000 miles ridden. if I everdo crash, I hope I don’t qualify for your updated collection.
